Advanced Diabetes Risk Assessment
Diabetes and other autoimmune conditions can have profound effects on various aspects of our health, often impacting our feet in significant ways. Unfortunately, foot health can sometimes be overlooked in the management of these conditions.
Maintaining awareness of any changes occurring in the feet is crucial to address issues promptly and appropriately.
A comprehensive assessment delivers the following:
Various tools, including ultrasound, are utilized to assess vascular supply. This involves checking pulses, blood pressure, blood supply, ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI), and more.
Sensation in the feet is evaluated to detect any changes that may indicate reduced ability to feel pressure or rubbing, which could lead to ulcerations.
Using the right footwear for the right activity is extremely important. Poor fitted and poorly structured footwear can cause corns, callus and lead to injuries which can become problematic especially in diabetic feet.
Pressure plate assessment using F scan to identify areas of high pressure and use the information to prescribe/make orthoses/insoles to unload the are. Please note not all require this, it is case by case assessment but should it be required, it is included in the cost.
I provide a full report and recommendation to you and your GP containing any recommendations from the assessment findings (in line with NICE Guidelines and evidence-based practice).
